Improving pupil motivation, self-confidence and overall engagement in education.
Curriculum
Figure of Eight Education offers a balanced and broadly based curriculum which takes into consideration the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of the children and also attempts, whatever their age, to prepare them to become well-adjusted members of the wider community.
Our Curriculum
The curriculum takes into account the requirements of the National Curriculum wherever possible given that the majority of children will be reintegrated into mainstream education.
Key Stage 4
Students will be able to access a wide range of accredited courses on par with their mainstream school. Our class sizes are very small and we offer a high level of individualised support. This is an advantage in terms of the benefit to vulnerable learners, i.e. those that may have missed parts of their education due to behaviours or absence. Students will study a GCSE curriculum in a range of subjects.
Key Stage 3
Our curriculum covers subjects that your child would be taught in a mainstream setting. We pride ourselves on having subject specialist teachers delivering high quality teaching and learning to enable your child to make the best progress that they can. This means that if your child may eventually be able to access mainstream school again they can slot back into it without major gaps in learning. We have small classroom learning environments.
Key Stage 2
Figure of Eight Education teaching and learning and pastoral guidance implemented in Key Stage 2 fosters positive development in our students and encourages independent progressive learners. Our educators draw on different curriculum experiences, knowledge and expertise to ensure that our lessons are relevant and well matched to meet the needs of all our students ensuring smooth transition into secondary life.

ASDAN Short Courses
ASDAN’s programmes and qualifications are widely recognised by teachers for providing an engaging curriculum that empowers students through personalised learning and choice. The courses motivate learners through short-term targets and regular recognition of achievement. The courses develop a wide range of core skills in young people, including teamwork, problem solving, communication, managing your own learning and performance, and conducting research. Learners undertaking ASDAN courses also develop character traits such as confidence, self-esteem, resilience and ambition.
The programmes and qualifications that ASDAN offers for secondary school children, range from helping learners make a successful start in secondary education to boosting engagement and motivation, developing core skills, and enhancing academic performance. The courses offered are suitable for pre and post-16 students and can help develop personal, independent living and employability skills through an engaging curriculum.
AQA Unit Awards
The AQA Unit Award Scheme is invaluable as it is an important pathway for our students to receive accreditation for their achievements. It provides a wide range of units which are differentiated, making accreditation accessible to all pupils regardless of their ability. Furthermore, through allowing amendments and writing our own units, we are able to expand and customise units to our pupil's individual learning interests and needs. The courses offered are designed to encourage and support learners to show them what they can do, rather than what they can't.
